NB: Please remember that it is very difficult to plan and execute a course if participants do not arrive on time. This week no-one turned up until over 20 minutes into the lesson, which meant that less material could be covered. Please make an effort to come on time, and, if necessary, remind your line manager that ING is paying for the course for the company's benefit. Thank you.
Lesson Summary
In the eighth lesson, we:
Reviewed the layout of business letters.
Compared and contrasted the difference between business letter and e-mails.
Some important issues from this lesson were:
Remember that the conventions of letter writing have developed over time, to make information easy to find through familiarity.
E-mails don't have the same degree of convention, because they haven't been around as long.
Try to make sure that all the information you include in a letter is included in an e-mail, where appropriate.
The materials used for this lesson are attached below.
Self-study Practice: Mid-Course Feedback
Last week you were asked to send an e-mail to your teacher giving your opinion on some aspect of the course so far. Only three people have done this so far. Please complete this early as possible, and do so on the discussion board here if necessary.
