Considered the importance of writing an effective subject line for e-mails.
Practised the above.
Remember when writing your subject line:
Be clear about the purpose of the mail.
Try to indicate the relative importance of the message.
Try to use five words or so.
Use a 'hook', if you can, for functional language. e.g. 'Would you mind...?' for requests.
Self-study Practice
Thanks to everyone who did the mid-course feedback, and prepared a sample of their work by printing out an e-mail or business letter, as requested. If you forwarded a message, thanks for that also. For next week, please complete the sample e-mail taken from the 'role-play' (1, 2, 3, or 4) you were given in class. Either e-mail it or print it out and bring it to class on Wednesday June 10.
